Inspection Night 2010

Added 29/03/2010

Monday night at the EK Sea Cadets, saw our unit’s Royal Naval Inspection by our Area Officer; Commander Colin Redstone OBE RN. All Cadets who attended on the night took part and enthralled, enlightened and educated, with a touch of humour, the honoured guests, parents, friends and families of all the Cadets. The Cadets displayed their knowledge and understanding of various aspects of Cadet life such as Seamanship, Cook / Steward, First Aid and Marine Engineering. The Junior Cadets displayed their knowledge of the whole of their syllabus and conducted the Evening Colours. All of which was a great achievement. The following Cadets were promoted and presented with their Badges by Commander Redstone: To Ordinary Cadet; Emma Harper, Kyle Hughes, Liam McGeehan, William Redpath and Ryan Redpath. To Able Cadet; Steven Frame, Andrew Glenesk, Jack Khan, Calum Leber, Danielle McCallum, Charlotte Muir, Elisha Walker and Jennifer Wilson. Commander Redstone was carrying out his final inspection in his role of Area Officer for the Sea Cadet Corps before he leaves the post and ironically East Kilbride unit was his first inspection when he took up his position three years ago. He was very impressed, as always, with East Kilbride unit as were our honoured guests of Lt. Commander (SCC) V.A. Bell MBE RNR; Provost Russell Cleary MBE; Councillor Michael McCann Deputy Leader SLC; Mr. Rex Diack President EK PROBUS Club. A huge thank you and well done goes to all the cadets and also to the staff ably led by Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Jim Harper RNR.
